Michele was my birth doula and supported me and my husband at the birth of our first baby. We had spent a lot of time planning for a natural delivery and felt a Doula would help us stay relaxed and in control - since we had no idea really what to expect from labour/childbirth. A week before my due date my Doctor had suggested that they induce the birth if the baby didn’t arrive on schedule or within 2 days...mainly because it was the holiday season and she said that there may be a shortage of Doctors if I went into labor around Christmas time. After talking to Michele I decide to let nature take its course and told the Doctor that I did not want to induce unless it was medically necessary. I'm so glad I made that decision. I went into labor naturally 4 days after my due date.

Once at the hospital, she really was fantastic - whilst helping me cope with the pain and helping me understand what was happening she jumped in whenever I needed her and supported my husband and my mother in supporting me.

As my labor progressed there were complications and I ended up having an emergency cesarean - It's hard to sum up how much of a difference the doula made, in one word she was incredible. She talked to the doctors and nurses and discreetly made sure that they kept us informed about everything that was going on. She helped keep us calm when things felt like they were out of our control and explained things to us that the doctors and nurses did not have the time to do as they were rushing to prepare me for surgery. This was invaluable since this was our first baby and we were very nervous and anxious especially when things were not working out the way we had hoped. She explained the pros and cons of various options without trying to influence our choices and that helped us with the decisions we needed to take at the time.

I would recommend anyone to consider having a doula - it may feel like an extravagance to some but it really does make a difference to what is one of the most scary, amazing experiences of our lives. We had a beautiful, healthy baby girl. ~E.V.

I recently moved to this area when I was pregnant with my son. I found Michele's name listed on a doula website. After speaking with her a short while I knew she was the right person for me. I instantly felt completely comfortable with her. She was so understanding and respectful of how my husband and I wanted our birthing process to be. She was always there when I had any question, even the silly ones! She is so knowledgeable in this field. I continue to recommend her to everyone I know. I truly believe that I couldn't have gotten through my two labors without her! (Both were induced with no epidural.) Thank you SOOO much Michele for helping me bring my two angels into this world! Honestly, I don't think Malika's birth would have gone so well without Michelle. She coached, guided and supported me as the nurses kept ramping up the pitocin. I was able to deliver Malika without pain killers even while confined to labor lying down. Though I had to be induced because my water broke, she was able to give me the birth experience that I hoped for. Rami says we couldn't have done it without her. Having the baby yes, but having our baby without too much intervention, no way. I would definitely use her again and recommend her to everyone. ~Karen, mother of Malika

I always tell my friends that having you as my doula was worth every penny! I had exactly the natural birth I wanted and felt so comfortable knowing you were there to help me get through it. I also appreciated how you helped Charley feel like part of the birthing process and allowed him to enjoy the experience. I also relied so heavily on you with help as I learned how to breastfeed - the fact that you came over to the house and helped me when I felt helpless meant to much. I'm sure you will always remember your 'first' family you experienced as doula. I'm glad you are still a doula and have been successful at it thus far. Gerry and I chose you because even though you hadn't had experience yet, we knew you had the passion and will to do great things for pregnant women. One of the best parts for me about having Michele as my doula was to have an extra support person during my very long labor. She stayed overnight in the hospital with me so my husband could have a break (after already being up for 24 hours). He was able to come back in the morning rested and ready to keep supporting me until i had my baby later that night. Also, after I got home, it was so nice to have someone to ask questions and ask for help...especially about breastfeeding. Michele also taught me how to put on my Moby Wrap and helped me set up my breast pump! ~L.P.
