I started the birth center this week.
This was my first few days away from the family. I cried a lot. I didn’t think it was going to be so hard. I have been away from the family before, but I think because one, I am so far away, and two, this is going to be a continuous process for the months to come, I had a more difficult time with it.
When I got into town, I kept busy by getting groceries and getting myself unpacked. Luckily my time at the birth center was busy, so I had many distractions. I also called the family as often as I could so I felt better throughout the day. It was good to hear everyone’s voices. One thing’s for sure: I didn’t sleep well.
Because of the way the week worked out, I was able to come home and stay home for a few days. I have a better idea of what I need to do the next week, so I hope it will be an easier adjustment.
