Since January 1, 2023, California’s Medi-Cal program has covered full-spectrum doula care as a preventive service. This includes evidence-based care for perinatal education, support through pregnancy, birth, postpartum, miscarriage, and abortion, plus newborn care, lactation guidance, birth planning, and non-medical comfort measures.

Our managed care plan in Monterey County is Central California Alliance for Health (CCAH).

There is no out-of-pocket expense for you, the Member. I bill Medi-Cal/CCAH for you and get paid directly for my services.

Currently, benefits for Members include:

• One (1) initial visit (90 minutes)

• Up to eight (8) additional visits that may be provided in any combination of prenatal and postpartum visits. (One (1) hour each)

• Support during labor and delivery (including labor and delivery resulting in a stillbirth), abortion or miscarriage.

• Up to two (2) extended three-hour postpartum visits after the end of a pregnancy.

• An additional recommendation from a physician or other licensed practitioner of the healing arts acting within their scope of practice is required for up to nine (9) additional postpartum visits.

As a Medi-Cal and CCAH-contracted doula, I provide trauma-informed, person-centered, and culturally competent care for the families that I serve.
